Adoption Tax Credit Update

As it stands now, the Adoption Tax Credit is set to end for all adoptions, other than those involving a child with special needs, at the end of this year.  Many organizations are lobbying in favor of its extension, but the results remain to be seen.  On a positive note, on February 13th, President Obama sent Congress his budget for the fiscal year 2013, which begins October 1, 2012.  Included in the budget is  a proposal to make the Adoption Tax Credit permanent, while also maintaining the  increases and refundability portions for the years 2012 and 2013.  The Adoption Tax Credit has been instrumental in promoting adoption for many years.  To find out more information about what you can do to ensure that the tax credit continues, please visit www.adoptioncouncil.org.  Here you will find an Adoption Tax Credit Advocacy Kit setting forth how you can help.
